If you’re planning a visit to Raging Waters Los Angeles, there are a few things you should know before you grab your swimsuit and sunscreen. California’s largest water park has more than 50 attractions, some fascinating history, and a layout that’s very different from most water parks. Here are five things that stood out to me during my visit.
1. It’s the Largest Water Park in California
Raging Waters Los Angeles is officially the largest water park in California, with more than 50 slides and attractions. That includes:
- Speed slides
Body slides
Tube slides
Family raft rides
A quarter-mile lazy river
California’s only hydromagnetic water coaster
There’s a huge range of experiences here, from relaxing floats to intense thrill rides.
2. The Park Is Built Into a Canyon
One of the most unique things about this park is its terrain. When the park opened in 1983, its lease agreement required it to be built into the canyon to preserve the natural landscape.
Because of that, the park is very hilly, which is unusual for water parks that are typically flat. The upside? It’s surrounded by greenery and foliage and has a surprisingly beautiful natural aesthetic.
3. Major Park Upgrades Were Recently Added
Raging Waters has recently undergone some of its biggest park-wide enhancements in over a decade.
Recent improvements include:
- New furniture and upgraded cabanas
- Fresh paint across the park
- Eco-friendly turf installations
- An upgraded Wi-Fi networkMobile food ordering
These updates help modernize the experience while still keeping the park’s classic charm.
4. It’s Owned by Palace Entertainment
The park is operated by Palace Entertainment, which owns several other amusement and water parks.
That means if you also visit parks like Castle Park, it may be worth looking into a Platinum Pass that works across multiple parks.
5. Beauty and the Beat Is an Intense Ride
One of the rides that surprised me most during my visit was Beauty and the Beat, the park’s hydromagnetic water coaster.
At one point, it drops riders 26 feet per second, and the experience is seriously thrilling. I loved it so much that after riding it once, I ended up riding it three more times.
