One of the most famous treats at Silver Dollar City is the cinnamon bread at Clarabell’s Cinnamon Bread Bakery.
During my visit, I got to go behind the scenes and learn how it’s made.
And the secret might surprise you.
The Secret: Simple Dough
The bread itself is actually simple white dough.
The real magic happens during the preparation process.
The Cinnamon Bread Process
Here’s how it’s made:
- Start with a loaf of plain white bread dough. Any frozen bread dough, thawed, will do, or you can make your own from scratch.
- Brush it generously with melted butter
- Coat it with cinnamon sugar
- Cut the dough to create pockets for the cinnamon mixture
- Dip and coat it again in butter and cinnamon sugar
The goal is to make sure the mixture gets into every crack and crevice.
Bake and Enjoy
Once prepared, the bread is baked until it becomes fluffy, golden, and packed with cinnamon flavor.
The finished loaf is served warm and often paired with icing or apple butter.
