For the past three years, Silver Dollar City has been voted the best theme park in the United States.
And until recently, I had never been.
So when I was invited to visit, I jumped at the chance to find out if the hype was real.
A Park Built Around a Cave
One of the most fascinating things about Silver Dollar City is its origin story.
The park was built around Marvel Cave, a National Historic Landmark that you can still tour today.
The cave tour is incredible and gives the park a truly unique historical foundation.
Incredible Theming
The park is set in the year 1885 and located in the Ozark Mountains.
The theming throughout the park is extremely detailed and immersive.
You’ll find artisans demonstrating traditional crafts like:
- Glassblowing
Blacksmithing
Woodworking
Pottery
It really feels like stepping back in time.
Amazing Food
Silver Dollar City is also known for its food.
Many dishes are made fresh in the park, and the park has been ranked among the best theme park dining experiences in the country.
The Coasters
And of course… the coasters.
The park currently has seven roller coasters, including:
- Time Traveler
- Outlaw Run
- Wildfire
- Powder Keg
Time Traveler quickly became one of my personal favorites.
My Favorite Moment
Honestly, one of my favorite things about the park was simply wandering.
I put my phone away, explored paths, watched performers, and discovered little corners of the park.
It felt like a true adventure.
