Here’s a Hersheypark feature I don’t think enough people know about — and it can seriously maximize your park ticket.
It’s called the Preview Plan, and it essentially gives you extra park time the day before your ticket is valid.
Hersheypark Sweet Start
Like many parks, Hersheypark offers early entry for certain guests.
This program is called Sweet Start, and it allows:
- Season pass holders
Guests staying at Hershey resorts
to enter the park one hour before it opens.
The Preview Plan for Regular Tickets
But Hersheypark also offers something rare: extra hours for regular ticket holders.
It’s called the Preview Plan.
Here’s how it works.
If you purchase a one-day ticket, you can enter the park two hours before closing on the day before your ticket is valid.
Example:
- Your ticket is valid Sunday
You can enter Saturday two hours before closing
Then you still get your entire Sunday visit.
Resort Guests Get Even More Time
If you’re staying at a Hershey resort, the Preview Plan is even better.
Instead of two hours early, you can enter the park three hours before closing the day before your ticket.
The Flexible Part Most People Miss
Another interesting detail is that the preview doesn’t have to be the day immediately before your ticket.
For example, if your ticket is valid Sunday, you could preview on:
- Thursday
Friday
Saturday
As long as it’s before the ticket date.
One Important Rule
You do have to be careful about timing.
If preview starts two hours before closing, you can’t enter even a few minutes earlier.
Make sure you check the exact park hours for the day you’re visiting.
Why This Feature Is So Good
This perk can make a huge difference.
Instead of squeezing everything into one day, you can:
- Ride a few attractions
Explore the park
Get familiar with the layout
Then return the next day with a head start.

Final Thoughts
I wish more theme parks offered something like the Hersheypark Preview Plan.
It’s a great way to stretch your ticket value — and get extra ride time without buying another day.
